MILEPOST 134 - FOLLOWING MY "PLANNED DEVIATION"

MILEPOST 134

Week 39 - A Planned Deviation

One of the things I have liked about this program is that you don't "cheat", you plan a deviation. I planned my deviation, had a very nice Mother's Day brunch with Bob, made adjustments during the week to compensate for the deviation, and lost one pound. It isn't the 3 - 4 pounds that I have become accustomed to losing, but it is still positive.

I have been feeling in need of a 'deviation' for some time, so decided that Mother's Day would be the occasion I would celebrate. I had it all planned, including my menu. We had reservations at Wine O'Clock - one of our favorite places to dine. As the time approached, I felt very apprehensive. Will this be okay? After all, one of the reasons I have been on this program is so I can go out occasionally and enjoy a meal like a 'normal' person. I decided to just enjoy it and then get back on program immediately following our brunch.

And, that is what I did. I understand that is how the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th phases of the program work. I am being taught how to make adjustments for special occasions, without allowing myself to indulge on a daily basis.

I really feel as though I am in control of my life - once I learn to control my eating habits, the rest kind of falls into place.

"PosPositive: No matter what the situation, remind yourself “I have a choice.”

We have about 6 weeks before our big road trip to Boston to visit Toni and family. I chose to deviate for one meal, and I chose to adjust my week to make that decision okay. My goal of losing the additional 23 pounds by Father's Day is still doable, but I will have to choose to be very selective in my meals for the next few weeks. I have lost 7 of those 23, so have 16 left to lose over the next 5 weeks.
